To enhance our curriculum this year at Gillas Lane Primary our children have taken part in the following activities.  Please click on the individual links to access further information and photographs.

Konflux Theatre came into school to run a workshop on Midsummer Nights Dream with our Year 5 and 6 children

Birmingham Royal Ballet came into school to run a workshop with our Year 1 and 2 children

Children's author, Caryl Hart, came into school to work with our Year 1 children

Our Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 children attended workshops on 'The Bible Comes Alive' at the Bethany Christian Centre

Our Year 2 children took part in a Chinese Kite Making session in school

Our school choir sang for the residents of Cherry Tree Nursing Home at Christmas

The children in Key Stage 2 took part in graffiti sessions with an artist and made their own pieces of art

Our Foundation Stage children visited Down at the Farm to see Santa and his animal friends

Sleeping Beauty Pantomime visited school to perform 

Our school choir took part in the 'African Band' at the Bethany Christian Centre over the Christmas Holidays

The children in Year 4/5 worked alongside The North East Project to make a Bug Hotel 

Year 3/4 have taken part in the Groundwork Project in our local area

The Dogs Trust came in to work with our Year 1 and 2 children 

The children in our Year 5/6 took part in Codex 1300 Project, rewriting the Bible

Some children took part in Chatterbox Project they then visited Houghton Library to work with an author

Children in Year 4/5 worked with Mark from MBC Ceramics to make mining tokens for the statue being created at the Bethany Christian Centre then attended the grand unveiling!

Vision Charity came into school to speak to the children about what it's like being visually impaired

Children in our Year 5 took part in Bikeability sessions to learn how to be safe with their bikes

'Bugs n Stuff' came into school to work alongside the whole school for a treat

Musical Mates came into school where we all had a fabulous Rock Concert treat!

Childline visited Year 5/6 to work with the children

Children in Year 5/6 attended a workshop with the poet Ian McMillan

Year 4/5 have worked alongside the Durham Wildlife Trust to plant a fruit orchard and are coming in to plant a wildflower meadow in the school grounds
