The key drivers of the Gillas Lane curriculum are rich vocabulary, raising aspirations and improving mental health and well-being. These are the golden threads that are woven throughout our approach to teaching and learning.
Our curriculum has a creative approach to learning, is based upon the national curriculum and is taught through themes which change each half term. The themes are linked to ensure coverage of the national curriculum but also the children’s interests as well as current and world affairs, historical events, science and nature, and health. We seek to meet all children’s learning styles and promote cross curricular learning to help reinforce children’s basic skills in literacy and numeracy. We also have a variety of themed Creative Fortnights throughout the year to support this.
