FEAT 1st stands for (Families Enjoying Active Travel).  Sustrans is a leading UK charity enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day.

This is an exciting and innovative project that our school is getting involved in.  It will enable our children to get active and healthy and by pedaling, walking and scooting to school every day.

THE BIG PEDAL:

From Monday 2nd March until 20th March we are taking part in The Big Pedal with Sustrans, sponsored by the Bike Hub http://www.bikehub.co.uk/ .  We are taking part in the UK's biggest cycle and scoot to school event. On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school.

FUN FRIDAYS:

On Friday afternoons in school Sam comes along to take a class for sessions with their bikes/scooters.

We run 'Stabiliser Sessions' where the children from our Foundation and KS1 classes were invited to bring along their bikes, helmets and stabilisers where Sam from Sustrans helps them to develop their riding skills.   The children have a great time.

We have also held scooter and bike sessions for our KS2 classes.

In November the children are taking part in a 'Bright Ya Bike' Session where they are invited to bring their bike into school and decorate it, this will enable the bikes to be seen in the dark winter nights.

Below are photographs of children who have taken part in some of the sessions.
